Add existing Jira issues to a map
Bring recent work from the current Jira project onto your map without changing the issues in Jira.
Before you start
You need:
- Permission to view issues in the Jira project.
- A mind map that you can edit.
Open the recent-issue list
- Select Jira backlog in the map header.
- Wait for the Jira issues to load.
Despite its name in the app, this panel is a recent-issue browser. It does not change Jira backlog rank, boards, or sprints.
The panel initially shows issues created in the current project during the last 7 days, with the most recently updated issues first.
Find an issue
Use any of these controls:
- Enter an issue key or part of a summary in Search issues….
- Select an issue-type filter such as Task, Story, or Bug. The available types come from the loaded results.
- Under Status:, select a Jira status.
- Under Created:, select 7d, 14d, or 30d.
- Select Refresh Jira backlog to request the latest results from Jira Cloud.
The panel shows up to 60 issues for the selected date range. If an older or less recently updated issue is not shown, open it in Jira or use a longer date range.
Add an issue under an idea
- Select the idea that should become the issue's map parent.
- Find the issue in Jira backlog.
- Select the plus button on the issue card. Its label changes to Add to idea name when an editable idea is selected.
Mind Map Studio creates a new child card with the Jira issue key and summary. It does not replace the selected idea.
Place an issue by dragging it
- Drag the issue card from Jira backlog onto the canvas.
- Drop it near the idea that should become its map parent.
Dropping near an idea connects the new card to that idea. If you need a predictable parent, select the parent first and use the plus button instead.
Open the issue in Jira
Select the Jira key on the map card. The issue opens in Jira, where you can view or edit its Jira fields.
Check the result
The issue was added successfully when:
- A new card appears on the map.
- The card shows the correct Jira key and summary.
- Selecting the Jira key opens the expected issue.
- No map save warning remains visible.
Good to know
- Adding an existing issue changes the map only. It does not edit the issue, create a Jira issue link, move the issue, or change its Jira status.
- The card contains a snapshot of the issue details available when it was added. Changes made later in Jira are not automatically copied to the existing map card.
- Changing an idea's progress on the map does not transition the Jira issue.
- Deleting the map card does not delete the Jira issue.
Fix a problem
The plus button is unavailable
Select an editable idea first. If the map is read-only or a save is already in progress, wait until editing is available.
The issue does not appear
Clear the search and type or status filters, then try 14d or 30d under Created:. The panel searches only the current Jira project and shows up to 60 issues for the chosen period.
The issue list could not be refreshed
Select Try again or Refresh Jira backlog. If previously loaded issues remain visible, treat them as older results until the refresh succeeds.
